Introduction

The Public Historical Library of Andritsaina is Legal Entity of Public Law and is that comes under the Ministry of National Education and Religions, according to law 3149/10-6-2003 “National Library of Greece, Public Libraries and other provisions”. It is housed in a neoclassical building in the Eastern entry of the city.

Nowadays, its collection includes the appreciable collection of “Konstantinos -Agathofron Nikolopoulos” with rare publications of the first years of typography and of “Evangelos Kallianiotis”, and also an exhibition of plaster casts (donation of British Museum 1963) of the frieze of the Apollo Epikourios ('Apollo the Helper') Temple, as well as historical file with written manuscripts of the Greek Revolution and afterwards.

The library offers a reading room, a lending department and the Information Center operating daily.

The library is open to public from Tuesday to Saturday, from 7.00a.m. until 2.30 p.m.

Supervisory Council

The public Historical Library of Andritsaina is managed by the Supervisory Council (SC). The SC is nominated by the decision of the Minister of National Education and Religions, published in the Government Newspaper, has five members and is constituted by individuals that emanate from the field of culture, education, self-government, church, science or production. The service of members lasts for three years.

By decision No 84964/ 30-6-2008 of the Minister of National Education and Religions, under the title: “Constitution of Supervisory Council of the Library of Andritsaina”, published at the OFFICIAL JOURNAL OF THE HELLENIC REPUBLIC 318/24-7-2008, s. YODD, the Supervisory Council of the Library was constituted by the following members:

1. Trifon D. Athanassopoulos Mayor of Andritsiana, as Chairman with alternate Chairman Stathis D. Daglaris, Lawyer.

2. Antonios A. Aggelopoulos, retired General of the Hellenic Police, as Vice-Chairman, with alternate Vangelis P. Gianikopoulos, editor of the “Panolympiaki” newspaper.

3. Panagiotis C. Charalampopoulos, Scholar, Lyceum ex-Director, as Member, with alternate George A. Zacharopoulos, Archimandrite.

4. Alex K. Karakatsanis, Priest, as Member, with alternate Evgenia G. Kostogiannis, editor of the “New Horizon” newspaper.

5. Kostas P. Antonopoulos, Journalist of the «Patris» (Homeland) as Member, with alternate Paraskevi T. Derehani, Scholar.




Mission

 

 

The public, Historical Library of Andritsaina constitutes a center of communication-information and provides various services via its corresponding departments. It corresponds to informative, educational and cultural needs of its public, it maintains archival material (newspapers, magazines etc.) of local character and includes material that has been published and is concerned in the history of the place, aiming at the coverage of the informative needs in local themes.
It aims to the promotion of reading and the management of knowledge, in the safeguarding, appointment and projection of local cultural delivery, in the support of educational action, by applying the policy of Ministry of National Education and Religions, as well as to serving of users with the use of new technologies. It participates in the implementation of Programs of the European Union, such as “Information Society”.
